The race is over

Trans Scania 2016 is over, and what a race it has been! We got a new track record, beating the previous one by over three hours. A few years ago, sub forty hour times were rare. This year, not only did we have five runners under forty hours, but the fastest times seem to be approaching the thirty hour mark! We also had an equaled record number of finishers, twelve!
Check out the official results, they will be submitted to ITRA (for UTMB points) and DUV in a few days.
Thanks to all the runners, supporters and lovely people along the track for an awesome race weekend. We’re already looking forward to next year!

The race begins on Friday August 12, 8:00 at the end of the Långa Bryggan jetty in Bjärred.

The finish is at the entrance of Hotel Lundia in Lund. The track record is just under 37 hours, meaning really fast runners can finish on Saturday evening. Use the live map to predict finish times. The finish closes at 20:00 on Sunday, 60 hours after the start.

The race is coming up

The race is coming up quickly, and we’re busy with the final preparations. Just like in previous years, there will be a live map where you’ll be able to follow the progress of the runners online. We’ll post a link here on the front page when we get a bit closer to the race.
If you want to experience the start of the race as a spectator, see the race info page for details. If you want to cheer on your favorite runner along the way or welcome them to the finish line, use the live map and your best judgement to be at the right place at the right time. The organizers will of course be at the finish line to meet all the runners who make it there.
Feel free to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, where we’ll post occasional updates during the weekend.

A quick reminder

The participant list is updated from time to time when registered runners cancel their participation, and new ones are entered into the race from the waiting list. Check back to keep up to date, or join our Facebook group to get the latest news and take part in discussions.
In other news, we’ve recently secured GPS trackers from the same supplier as the previous two years, hopefully the tracking will work just as good this year!

A few more spots open

We were frankly taken by surprise by the relatively huge interest in Trans Scania 2016. For a race that has had as little as three finishers (in 2012), having 20 registered runners and a few more on a waiting list in October is a pretty big deal.
We’re convinced Trans Scania should never become a big race, it’s just not the way it was meant to be. However, we’ve taken a close look at our organizational bottlenecks and figured we can raise the maximum number of participants to 25.
This simply means we can let people from the waiting list into the race, new registrations will most likely go directly to the waiting list.

Race full (?)

Wow, in just six days we got enough applications to fill the race. We don’t have a full set of complete registrations yet, some are still pending payment, but the race is most likely full. We’ll keep accepting registrations, but these will be placed on a queue waiting for spots to open up in the race.

Registration open!

We’ve now opened the registration for Trans Scania 2016! We urge all runners to read the Race info page carefully, as there are a couple of news for this year. In short:

  • There will be a limit of 20 participants. Once 20 runners are registered, new registrations will be placed in a waiting list.
  • Unsupported runners will be highlighted in the results list. We define unsupported as only relying on the official drop bag and existing stores and restaurants along the course for support.
  • We’ll only allow one drop bag per runner, ant it must be small and light enough for one person to carry without struggling.

As always, please contact us if you have any questions. See you at the start!
